“Due to the Competition Board’s decision, Threads will not be available to people in Turkey as of April 29, 2024. Your Threads profile will be disabled, but you can download your information and delete your profile at any time. We value the Threads community in Turkey and hope to be back soon.”
Let us state that the access interruption for Threads will be temporary. As a result of its investigations, the Competition Authority determined that there was data transfer between Threads and Instagram. This means that it violates Article 6 of Law No. 4054.
Meta stated that Threads users can freeze or delete their profiles completely. Users who choose to freeze their profile will be able to access their posts again in the future. It also stated that they are working with the Competition Authority to resolve the issue.
The social media giant also underlined that it will inform its users in Turkey about the decision. In this context, it stated that it has taken measures to enable the preservation of their content.
